Tis the season to start baking!
Well, it is that time of year again that things start to get a little crazy at Fiona’s Fancies HQ, with our festive treats running out the door. And we have been busy baking, creating and designing our delicious treats ready for you, our customers.
I love Christmas because for me it is all about family and friends, it reminds me of all the wonderful Christmas’s I shared back home in the UK with my mum, dad, my brother Graham and in later years my husband.
Now I am in Australia and Christmas is completely different from what I am used to in the UK. Christmas Day is now hot with anything from 30- 40C, no snow, rain or wind.
We spend a bit of time in the pool and have who we call our Aussie Family come around to share in our festive celebration. But what has not changed and will never change in the Burton household, (well not if my husband Chris is cooking) is the traditional Christmas dinner. Yes, you heard right we still have the full Christmas dinner, turkey, ham, beef, roast potatoes, parsnips, sprouts and chestnuts, yummy gravy and not forgetting pigs in blankets and that stuffing owe that amazing homemade stuffing!!!
Of course, I am in charge of the dessert which unfortunately the home-made Christmas pudding and Rum sauce have faded into a far distant memory. Last year I made chocolate fondant and Baileys Parfait to this year a chocolate Christmas Tree Cookie Cake which I have been dying to creative. Every year it’s something new and allows me to create something special for my family and of course for my little girl who is like my dad was, excited to try my delicious treats. At least she doesn’t have to trial them as he did though.
Merry Christmas from my family to yours, thank you every one of you for your custom in 2020 and I hope to create more treats for you, your family and friends in 2021.
